Giving GE’s Energy Videos A Little More Energy

GE Vernova was in need of a B2B video video series answering FAQs from their clients. There were a couple of challenges though. First, we had to use a lot of provided imagery from the client. (whispering) Which was not good. Second, the topics were VERY dry.

My solution? Come up with a video style that can make their bad shots look good. And then, tweak their mandatory scripts to include a little bit of visual metaphor to make the content more engaging.

The results were great especially considering what I had to work with. Not only did our video series act as great educational content on their website and in email. But it also acted like a helpful sales tool driving 100s of leads.

I came up with a visual style that blended clipped photos, illustrations, brand elements, animation, and kinetic type.

It helped make their challenging photos work better.

It would have been easy to throw up my hands and complain about the client’s mandatory assets. (Ok. Maybe I did for a second.) But, the visual direction I crafted, plus some photoshop work and a nice use of B&W and a branded overlay, made it possible to utilize their images in a better way. Bringing it all together.

So while this isn’t the “sexiest” project at a glance, I wanted to share this work as it’s a great example of how I do whatever I can to push myself and my teams to make the most of every project. Check out the first video in the 8 video series.
